The hugely anticipated new Hyundai Venue SUV has been revealed at last. Set for launch in the second half of 2019, it promises to deliver the goodness of Hyundai's immensely successful Creta but in a compact, sub-4 metre package. It rivals some truly accomplished compact SUVs such as the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV 300, which means it will be priced in the Rs 8-12 lakh range. The Venue may have a debatable name but a detailed look reveals the rest of it is anything but. This 5-seater SUV features style and presence in equal measure and, typically of Hyundais, is packed to its gills with features such as projector headlights with cornering lamps, a sunroof, 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control, the clever and sophisticated Hyundai BlueLink connectivity module, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and lots more. The Venue will be offered in three engine and gearbox options, a 1.0-litre T-GDI petrol, a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.4-litre diesel. The 1.0-litre petrol motor produces 120PS and 17.5kgm of torque and can be paired to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic unit. The 1.2-litre petrol which gets a 5-speed manual produces 85PS and 11.7kgm of torque and, lastly, you can have the 90PS, 22.4kgm, 1.4-litre diesel from the Creta, which is paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The Hyundai Venue comes in at a crucial time for the mass-market giant given the spectacular response generated by compact SUVs in the country, and by the look of it, it sure has the goods to deliver. Hyundai is offering a 3 year/unlimited km warranty on the Venue in addition to a 3 year roadside assistance programme as well. All things considered, it’s needless to say that this is one Venue we can't wait to get to!
