The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R is a lot like the discontinued Triumph Daytona 675R, but can it fill those boots? In the superbike hunt, the almighty horsepower figure sways sensibilities. Which is why the 136PS of power from the 636cc engine on the ZX-6R will pale in comparison to the 200 plus horsepower that 1000cc sportbikes deliver. In typical Kawasaki fashion the ZX-6R is available only in the Kawsaki Racing Team livery and the electronics on offer are adequate, not cutting edge. There’s no pillion seat either. Its Rs 10.49 Lakh price tag makes this mid-displacement superbike about Rs 4 lakh cheaper than other big bikes, and its elder brother the ZX10R. But, will that be enough to tempt riders? Maybe not, that is, until they get onto it and ride it. Because what the ZX6R does in the saddle should help riders decide whether trading down might be the right way to step up to a sportbike.
