KTM recently introduced the 890 Duke - a replacement to their acclaimed middle weight street fighter, the 790 Duke. It uses an 889cc Euro5/BS6-compliant liquid-cooled parallel-twin motor that belts out 115PS of power and 92Nm of torque. That’s 11PS and 8Nm more than the 790 Duke. This is essentially the same upgraded LC8C motor that KTM first introduced on the 890 Duke R at EICMA 2019, albeit in a slightly lower state of tune compared to the R.
KTM hasn’t compromised on the electronic suite of the 890 Duke. It gets four riding modes: Rain, Road, Sport and Track -- all of which come with different traction control settings, wheelie control, cornering ABS, throttle response, and launch control. However, KTM is offering the bi-directional quickshifter as an option, as opposed to a standard fitment like on the 890 Duke R
The 890 doesn’t get the fully adjustable suspension like the 890R, but KTM engineers claim that the 43mm WP Apex fork has been retuned to offer better feedback. No fancy Brembo brakes here either, the 890 makes do with standard KTM branded brakes.
KTM will be bringing the 890 Duke to India by late 2021/early 2022 at an expected price of Rs 9.0 lakh (ex-showroom).
