Following a long wait after its international debut, the new Jeep Wrangler has been launched in India. Priced at Rs 63.94 lakh, the new Wrangler may not look like a different SUV but gets a host of changes to make it feel more modern. In this new generation, it gets more tech, a richer interior and most importantly, more capable 4x4 hardware. It offers 215mm of laden ground clearance, can wade through 762mm of water and comes powered by a new engine. The India spec Wrangler Unlimited is offered only with a 2.0 litre, 4 cylinder turbo petrol engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Globally, the new Wrangler is offered with two four-cylinder engines and two six-cylinder engines.
There is the 3.6 litre V6 petrol which is an updated version of the engine that powered the outgoing Wrangler petrol, a 2.0 litre, 4-cylinder petrol that makes more torque than its larger displacement sibling, a 3.0 litre V6 diesel and a 2.2 litre diesel, the latter a replacement for the outgoing model's 2.8 litre unit.
The new Wrangler also gets improved aerodynamics, a richer cabin and tech updates like a new and larger touchscreen along with a revised instrument cluster with a TFT multi-information display.
