While we were eager to see the Yamaha R15 V4 make its India debut, the Japanese brand surprised us by launching the Aerox 155. The Yamaha Aerox 155 is the most premium Yamaha scooter to go on sale in our market and also holds the distinction of being the fastest scooter on sale in India. The Aerox 155 is basically the scooter version of the Yamaha R15 and both the two-wheelers share the same motor. The Yamaha Aerox 155 price starts at Rs 1.29 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The sporty Yamaha maxi-scooter competes with the Aprilia SXR 160.
Yamaha has loaded the Aerox 155 with features. It sports a 5.8-inch LCD instrument console with bluetooth connectivity, a multi function key slot, an external fuel lid, a USB charging port in the front glove box and an idle start-stop system.
The Yamaha Aerox 155 is powered by a 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled 4-valve engine, which makes 15PS and 13.9Nm in this guise. In comparison to the Yamaha R15, the scooter produces 3.25PS less power and 0.3Nm less torque. The Yamaha scooter rides on large 14-inch wheels and also gets a single-channel ABS.
