Yamaha India launched the new Fazer 25 in our two-wheeler market for Rs 1.28 lakh (ex-showroom, Maharashtra). The new motorcycle is basically the full-faired version of the Yamaha FZ25 which was launched few months back and is positioned as a sports-tourer offering to compete against the Bajaj Pulsar RS 200. The full-faired styling of the bike will appeal to youngsters while offering better resistance against wind blast. It gets a 14-litre tank capacity and Yamaha claims a mileage figure of around 40kmpl which should endow the bike with a range of around 600km on a full tank which is impressive. On paper, the Yamaha Fazer 25 does have the making for a good touring motorcycle as the 250cc motor does pack a punch as we experienced on the FZ25, while Yamaha is renowned for its reliability and quality.
The new Yamaha bike shares it frame, suspension parts and braking hardware with the Yamaha FZ25. Yamaha has skipped ABS as an optional feature to keep cost under check but we would have liked to see the Japanese two-wheeler giant to offer this safety tech at least as an option. The added fairing has increased its weight by 6kg and the new Yamaha Fazer 25 tips the scale at 154kg.
