The Kawasaki KLX230 S has been spotted testing in India. Expected to be heavily localised, it will be the first road-legal Japanese dual-sport bike which will be sold in the country.
It is likely to be priced under Rs 3 lakh (ex-showroom), but we expect it to be priced between Rs 2.5- 2.7 lakh. The KLX230 S is expected to launch in early 2025.
The Kawasaki KLX 230 S is powered by a 233cc air-cooled 2-valve single-cylinder engine which produces 19PS and 19.8Nm, paired with a six-speed gearbox.
The bike is equipped with a perimeter frame, it has a 37mm telescopic fork with 158mm wheel travel and a monoshock with 168mm rear wheel travel. Braking is managed by 240mm front and 220mm rear petal discs. It gets dual-channel ABS, with the rear being switchable. The KLX230 S rides on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheels. With a seat height of 830mm, it has a kerb weight of 134kg.
The bike gets a simple LCD instrument cluster, which shows only the essential information, that includes a speedometer, odometer, trip meter, fuel gauge, and a digital clock. The bike has a 7.5-litre fuel tank capacity.
The Kawasaki KLX230 S will be a more expensive alternative to the Hero Xpulse 200 4V.
