Features: The Land Rover Defender features 14-way heated and cooled seats, 11.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 14-speaker Meridian sound system, cruise control, ambient lighting, a head-up display, a three-zone climate control, and a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display. Its safety features include ABS with EBD, six airbags, traction control, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system, cornering braking control, blind spot assist, adaptive cruise control, rear pre-collision monitor and a 360-degree camera. Land Rover additionally offers four customisation packs: Explorer, Adventure, Country and Urban.

Engine: The Land Rover Defender is offered with five engine options, which include a 300PS/400Nm 2-litre petrol engine, a 300PS/650Nm 3-litre diesel engine, a 297PS/640Nm plug-in hybrid 2-litre petrol engine, a 400PS/550Nm 3-litre petrol engine, a 425 PS V8 petrol engine, and a 525PS/625Nm V8 petrol engine. It is paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission with an all-wheel drive system. The Defender 90 three-door model measures 4323mm in length, 2008mm in width, 1969mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2587mm. The Defender 110 5-door version measures 4758mm in length, 2008mm in width, 1967mm in height and has a wheelbase of 3022mm. Lastly, the Defender 130 is the largest of three, measuring 5099mm in length, 2008mm in width, 1970mm in height and has a wheelbase of 3022mm.

Rivals: It rivals the Jeep Wrangler and Mercedes-Benz G Wagon while being an off-road-capable alternative to the BMW X7, Volvo XC90, and Mercedes-Benz GLS.

Variants: The Defender is available in three configurations: 90, 110 and 130. It can be further had in five broad trims: SE, HSE, X-Dynamic HSE, X, and Defender V8. The Defender V8 is further offered in Carpathian Edition. The Defender 130 is available only in X, HSE and Defender V8 trims options and is also offered in a special Outbound edition. Colour options include: Fuji White, Pangea Green, Gondwana Stone, Eiger Grey, Tasman Blue Santorini Black, Hakuba Silver, Carpathian Grey, and Silicon Silver.

Land Rover has launched the updated Defender, starting at Rs 1.39 crore (ex-showroom). The Defender gets a new 425 PS V8 engine, available across all body styles of the SUV. Apart from the new engine, the SUV also gets an updated interior and a tweaked exterior design with some new styling elements. The updated SUV also features Terrain Response and Configurable Terrain Response functions. There are performance, comfort and off-road-oriented customisation packs on offer.

The Land Rover Defender is a luxury SUV with off-roading prowess. It is available in multiple configurations, including 5, 6 & 7-seaters options. Its large road presence and dimensions make it stand out on the road. It is available in both petrol automatic and diesel automatic configurations. Its higher variants prove to be a competitor to SUVs like the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS.
