What is the price of Apache RTR 160?

Prices of the TVS Apache RTR 160 start at Rs 1,20,420 for the base variant and go all the way up to Rs 1,28,720 (ex-showroom Delhi) for the top-of-the-line variant.

What are the variants of the Apache RTR 160?

The TVS Apache RTR 160 is offered in five variants: Drum, Drum (Glossy Black), Disc, BT Disc and the Racing Edition variant. The base Drum variant comes with a 130mm rear drum brake, a 110-section rear tyre and a kerb weight of 137kg. The Drum (Glossy Black) features a special edition Glossy Black colour.

The Disc variant, on the other hand, is fitted with a 200mm disc rear disc brake, a 120-section rear tyre and a 138kg kerb weight. The BT Disc variant gets Bluetooth connectivity, and the range-topping Racing Edition gets all the features of the BT Disc variant and comes with a Matte Black colour scheme with red and grey stripes and carbon-fibre inspired graphics.

What is the best variant of the Apache RTR 160?

We would always recommend the Disc variants, as disc brakes provide additional safety and better braking as compared to drum brakes. We think that the BT Disc variant is the most value-for-money variant and is the best among the available options. However, if you want sporty graphics, then you can also go for the Racing Edition.

What are the colours of the Apache RTR 160?

The Apache RTR 160 is available in seven colour options: T Grey, Matte Blue, Racing Red, Gloss Black, Pearl White, Glossy Black and Racing Red Edition with Matte Black colour. Moreover, the Glossy Black only comes in the Drum variant. The Matte Black colour is only available in the Racing Edition variant and costs Rs 1,28,720 (ex-showroom Delhi).

What is the mileage of the Apache RTR 160?

We tested the TVS Apache RTR 160 and it delivered a real-world mileage of 45.06kmpl in the city and 46.99kmpl on the highway. In mixed riding conditions, the bike can provide a mileage of around 45-46kmpl. The RTR 160 has a 12-litre fuel tank capacity, which means it should deliver a range of at least 500km on a full tank, so most city riders should be able to commute for a couple of weeks before having to refuel.

Is the Apache RTR 160 heavy?

The Apache RTR 160 Drum variants weigh 137kg (kerb), whereas the Disc variants have a kerb weight of 138kg. Both drum and disc variants are pretty lightweight and are easy to manoeuvre in tight spaces and parking lots.

Is the Apache RTR 160 good for long rides?

The Apache RTR 160 comes with decent performance and has a range of features including smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. The suspension is well-tuned and absorbs most bumps and potholes easily. The bike feels very quick to steer, which makes it very nimble in city traffic, but feels a bit twitchy when making direction changes through faster corners. Even when riding at high speeds, it feels very slightly unsettled thanks to its short wheelbase and while the brakes have good bite, are a bit lacking in feel for precise braking. The short clip-on handlebar and rear set footpegs provide a slightly sporty riding position but don’t make you sit as committed as a sportbike. While the bike is decent for city commutes, taller riders might find it challenging on long trips as their legs will feel a bit cramped.

What are the features of the Apache RTR 160?

The TVS Apache RTR 160 has a fully digital instrument console, which has big and easy-to-read fonts. It displays real-time information like speed, odometer, tachometer, tripmeter, fuel levels, gear position, clock and basic tell-tale lights. The top-end variant also gets smartphone connectivity via TVS' SmartXonnect technology and offers features such as turn-by-turn navigation, call and SMS notifications and a lap timer. It also features a voice assist feature. Additionally, the RTR 160 2V sports an LED headlight and tail light.

Apart from these features, the Apache RTR 160 comes fitted with alloy wheels, tubeless tyres, a front petal disc brake as standard and a 130mm drum/200mm petal disc at the rear. It gets single-channel ABS as standard as well.

Is the Apache RTR 160 worth buying?

The TVS Apache RTR 160 is still a good option for those seeking a sporty commuter with decent features. However, its pricing is very close to the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, which offers better performance and a modern design. The 4V's 4-valve configuration also promises improved engine refinement and mileage. Considering this, opting for the RTR 160 might not be the best choice. However, it remains a great entry point into the 160cc segment for budget-conscious riders.

What are the alternatives to the Apache RTR 160?

The TVS Apache RTR 160 goes up against the Bajaj Pulsar 150, Hero Xtreme 160R and Yamaha FZS-FI V3. The Apache RTR 160 offers more power as compared to all the above-mentioned competitors and comes with a range of features on par with the Bajaj Pulsar N150. Moreover, it comes with a smooth and powerful engine. At a similar price point, you can also consider the Bajaj Pulsar N160 or lower TVS Apache RTR 160 4V variants.
