• Q. I am planning to buy Yamaha YZF R15S. I will be riding it 40 kms daily in city traffic. I have below questions. 1) Will it be comfortable for this daily commute, Although it has single seat, is it comfortable for pillion rider (especially elder people)? 2) Does it cause any back, wrist, thigh pain over a period of time because of sitting position? 3) What about the handling of the bike in city traffic? 4) Can it be used for long rides of 250-300 kms?

    1. The comfort level depends from person to person based on their sitting styles. Initially the ergonomics will be rather sporty and forward biased but later on this will sink in. While riding always grab the tank with your knee to avoid strain on your elbows or wrists. If you sit naturally and do not forcefully lean forward you back should be more or less straight but tilted so this will prevent any back ache. You should not tend to shift your body weight on you wrists or shoulders to get a sporty stance because then you are inviting the fatigue yourself. As far as thigh pain is concerned no one can claim to answer correctly but its always better to test ride the vehicle thoroughly and for longer duration before thinking of purchasing it. 2. Commuting distance is not an issue but duration is because if your are subjecting your wrists, pelvic, knee to a particular posture for longer durations then eventually fatigue will creep in. It depends on the rider how he / she manages the duration. On my personal experience commuting was never an issue whether it was for 40 KM or 80.3. If at all you have an elderly pillion with you, please remember that the foot pegs are rear biased which means that the knee is subjected to more bending than usual. This in some may not be an issue but for some who particularly have knee or muscle related medical conditions it can be very painful after 10 minutes.

    1. It is comfortable for both Rider as well as pillion. For daily commute I would say 90%. 2. Yes it does.3. Handling is awesome, breaks are amazing for 150cc.4. Yes but again it depends on hight of the rider. Because after certain time wrist and lower back starts paining. If you are 5.6_5.9 it will be comfortable.
