R15S Key Highlights

Price: The Yamaha R15S is available in two colours: Racing Blue and Matte Black. It comes with a price tag of Rs 1,65,200 (ex-showroom Delhi), making it Rs 16,800 more affordable than the Yamaha R15 V4.

Features: The Yamaha R15S is equipped with split LED headlights and an LED taillight but has bulb indicators. It features the same digital LCD instrument console as the R15 V3, that greets you with ‘Hi buddy’ at the startup, which can also be personalised with your name. It displays a range of information including speed, odo, tachometer, two tripmeters, average mileage indicator and a gear position indicator. The R15S comes with VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) which is Yamaha lingo for variable valve timing, which enhances the bike’s top-end performance without sacrificing the low-end grunt.

Engine: The Yamaha R15S is powered by a 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA), producing 18.4PS and 14.2Nm. It is paired with a six-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch.

Suspension, Brakes & Other Details: Built on the Deltabox frame, the R15S receives a tweaked subframe as compared to the R15 V3. It is equipped with a 41mm telescopic fork and a linked monoshock. Braking duties are handled by a 282mm front disc with a twin-piston calliper and a 220mm rear disc with a single-piston calliper. The R15S comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, fitted with 100-section front bias-ply and 140-section rear radial tyres.

Rivals: The Yamaha R15S’ closest rivals are the Suzuki Gixxer SF and the Hero Xtreme 200S 4V. A more powerful faired alternative would be the Hero Karizma XMR, and if you’re a track enthusiast, then you could also look at the KTM RC 125.

Variants: Yamaha offers the R15S in Racing Blue and Matte Black colours both priced at Rs 1,65,200 ex-showroom Delhi.

Q. What are the engine specifications of the Yamaha R15S?
  • The Yamaha R15S is powered by a 155 cc air-cooled engine which produces 18.6 PS @ 10000 rpm of power. It has a fuel tank of 11 L and a claimed mileage of 40 kmpl.
Q. How many cylinders are there in Yamaha R15S?

Q. What is the height of Yamaha R15S?
  • The Yamaha R15S has total height of 1135 mm.
Q. What is the top speed of Yamaha R15S?
  • As of now, there is no official update available from the brand's end. We would suggest you to wait for the official announcement.
Q. What should I buy between Yamaha MT 15 V2 and R15S?
  • Both the bikes are good in their forte. The updates as expected have made the new MT-15 a better bike. It looks more premium, handles better and the addition of a few new features is welcome. But we were expecting more from Yamaha! The dullness of the engine is disappointing and the lack of dual-channel ABS is just beyond any reasoning with this performance on tap. As for goodies such as a quick-shifter and traction control, they should have been offered as part of a premium variant. On the other hand, the Yamaha R15S remains one potent small-capacity supersport for beginners. In its version 3.0 guise, it has become sharper and more focused, making it great for sport riding or trac enthusiasts. However, the aggressive riding stance could cause discomfort if you intend to use the bike for daily commuting and the quality of components have also gone down. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test ride for a better understanding of performance and comfort. Click on the link and select your desired city for dealership details.
