Q. Is Kia Sonet HTX DCT variant worth buying ? Is Kia 1.0 turbo engine reliable compared to Honda engine ivtec.?

Disclaimer : Slightly long answer and also my first post.. The 1 litre turbo engine is no doubt the best in segment. its powerful, frugal, smooth revving, has a wide torque band(172Nm) and also refined. the ivtec petrol engine on the other hand is a 1.5 litre naturally aspirates engine with just around 140 Nm of torque. Do note that insurance cost rises if a car has an engine capacity above 1000cc. I have read only positive comments so far and it seems pretty reliable. However ivtec has been on the market for a long time and is pretty reliable and also powerful. My pick would be the 1litre turbo as its more powerful thou. If reliability >> performance go for city, city is also a bigger car while sonet has more features for the priceHovewer, One thing to beware is that sonet is yet to be given for NCAP, and its bigger brother (India-spec seltos) itself has scored only 3 stars. And another point to note is that sonet is just based on a slightly bigger santro platform. If you are ok with the safety aspects, go for the korean brand. IF safety is all you ever need, then go for a nexon, harrier, or xuv300..Happy car shopping!!!
