The performance and driving characterstics of both Volkswagen Polo and Kia Sonet are different. However, the Volkswagen Polo has ditched the 7-speed DSG and is offered with a 6-speed torque converter instead. The Polo is powered by a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol motor making 110PS and 175Nm. The new Polo TSI, with its 6-speed manual transmission, does the 0-100kmph run in 9.66s. However, the new Polo has a similar or even stronger performance than the Polo 1.2 TSI that was offered with the 7-speed DSG. On the other hand, Kia Sonet gets a 1.0-litre turbo petrol that puts out 120PS of power. The engine offers likeable performance, however, the iMT offered with the turbo-engine makes more sense. For everyday driving, the iMT could deliver a better driving experience at a fraction of the cost, as the DCT isn’t a very snappy unit.
