They are from different segments so nothing in common. this was direct compertitor with the mahindra quanto of the time. Now, come to think of it, both are scary to drive over 110-120 kph due to the raised height and less width. If you are considering it over a used wagonR, then lets see.. The first and obvious pro is that all variants of the Rio come with ABS+EBD as standard, wheels are bigger(15") and shod with 205/70 section tires so it feels cushion like on bad roads, Overall stronger than wagon R - the sheet metal toughness and paint finish is 2 times better in the Rio, you get full flat fold seats in the back, is also recline able like the front (which is there in the wagon R). you seat much higher in the Rio and available in 2 diesel engine variants which are good in terms of city drive ability and mileage. reasonably kitted it gets electronic mirror controls, stereo, indicators on mirrors(type 2), rear fog lamp, ac, power steering, rear wash wipe, defogger, led cabin lamp, power windows etc in all variants of the car. top model gets all 5 alloy wheels and same size spare tire. Now cons- terrible resale(good for purchase, bad for selling) and spares is available on ordering only which takes 3 days to reach you(if you buy multijet model then service parts are available from TATA/FIAT/MARUTI/CHEVROLET also). getting in and out of the back seat is trouble some for elder people because of the height, power windows are in front doors only, cabin noise is crude and overall NVH is no where close to a Maruti, service support and parts cost also are a bit higher than WagonR, If going for Rio better to buy diesel only. parts availability is scarce for the petrol engine. WagonR - good overall performance, good service support, good resale value, good fuel efficiency, common car | under powered with AC, tin can like sheet metal, cabin rattles, lack of safety features(old models). Rio - better safety features and construction as standard, Unique vehicle, good fuel efficiency, better rough road handling with 205mm ground clearance, well equipped interms of WagonR | noisy on higher rpms, terrible resale and aftersales support.
