2023 is going to be a big year for Hero Motocorp, with as many as seven new products (eight if you count the Xtreme 160R 4V, and nine if you add the Harley-Davidson X440 to the mix) still to be rolled out from its various manufacturing facilities. As expected, the Xoom 110 sporty scooter will also be offered with a 125cc motor, as Hero wants to signify its intent in establishing itself as a strong name in the sporty scooter business.
We loved the Xoom 110’s lightness, youthful design and upbeat riding experience. It fits the bill of an entry-level sporty scooter beautifully. We hope the same qualities also filter through to the proposed sporty 125cc scooter.
Obviously, the Xoom 125 will use the same 124.6cc mill from the Maestro Edge 125 and we expect the output to stay unchanged at 9.11PS and 10.4Nm. In our performance tests, the Maestro 125 was running in the mid-pack. But with the lighter body of the Xoom 125, things should hopefully be more spirited.
Along with the Xoom 125, Hero will also bring out a refreshed Destini scooter. The Destini family (till the 110cc version was on sale) has been Hero’s barebones, simple and elegantly styled scooter. And we expect the new Destini to come in at a super affordable price, even if it means skimping out on some frilly features.
We are hoping Hero aces the asking price for both scooters. Prices for the Xoom 125 should start from around Rs 75,000, while the Destini may be priced as low as Rs 65,000 (both ex-showroom).
