Jaguar is all set to launch the I-Pace in India tomorrow on March 23. Jaguar India will be bringing the I-Pace as a CBU (Completely Built Unit) and will offer it in three variants: S, SE and HSE. An additional 8-year/1,60,000 km battery warranty as well a five-year complimentary service and roadside assistance will also be on offer. The I-Pace luxury EV will fight it out with the Mercedes-Benz EQC.
With the launch just a few hours away, here are five things you must know about the I-Pace:
The Powertrain
The I-Pace will come equipped with a 90kWh battery pack, which powers the twin electric motors developing 400PS and 696Nm. Power will be transmitted to the four wheels of the all-electric SUV for a 0-100kmph sprint time of 4.8 seconds, right before hitting its top speed of 200kmph.
It gets a WLTP (World harmonised Light vehicles Test Procedure) claimed range of 470km and can be charged from 0-80 percent in 45minutes via fast charging. The carmaker has installed fast chargers at its 22 outlets across 19 cities. It has also tied up with Tata Power so customers can make use of the 200-odd Tata Power charging stations across 23 cities. Tata Power will also be responsible for providing a complementary 7.4kWh home charging box for the luxury SUV.
Design Details
The SUV will feature a bold grille with sleek LED headlamps, with optional Matrix function and aggressive-looking side air intakes. The side profile gets a curvy design while the rear end looks much more mean thanks to the sleek LED tail lamps and the sloping roofline. The SUV rides on 19-inch wheels.
Interior Matters
The futuristic styling continues on the inside with the central console featuring Jaguar’s latest Pivi Pro infotainment system comprising two screens for the infotainment and climate control. It’s likely to come with connected car tech as well. The driver gets a digital driver’s display.
Features On Board
The I-Pace will be equipped with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, connected car tech, 16-speaker Meridian 3D surround sound system, wireless charging, a 12.3-inch driver’s display, adaptive cruise control, heads-up display, a PM 2.5 air filter, 16-way power adjustable seats, heated front seats, powered tailgate, and a panoramic glass roof.
On the safety front, the I-Pace will feature six airbags, electronic stability control, Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera.
The Price Tag
The SUV is likely to be priced from Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom). It will take on the likes of the Mercedes-Benz EQC and the upcoming Audi e-tron.
