The Hyundai i20 N Line will soon have a threat in the Indian market with the launch of the Altroz Racer tomorrow. Bookings are open for the sportier Tata hatchback, which will come in three broad trims. Apart from its sportier looks and a more powerful engine, the Altroz Racer will also get a host of feature additions as well.
Here are 5 things you should know ahead of its launch tomorrow:
Designwise, the Altroz Racer gets almost zilch changes over the standard car. It’s mainly the dual-tone colour scheme that makes it stand out and looks sporty. You get to choose from three different hues: Atomic Orange, Avenue White and Pure Grey. All three paint ways get a blacked out roof and bonnet with dual white stripes for a dose of aggression.
Even the alloys have been carried over from the standard, but the Racer gets a darker finish.
Inside, the dashboard design and layout hasn’t been tinkered with, but the Racer gets an all-black unit with orange highlights and ambient lighting. The black seats also have orange and white stripes on them to gel along with the overall theme. And lastly, it gets a handful of feature additions, which we’ll be talking about in the next section.

New features onboard the Altroz Racer will include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, ventilated front seats, 360-degree camera and six airbags. Do note that these features will be made available in the standard model down the line.
Bits such as a single-pane sunroof, automatic climate control, wireless phone charger, an 8-speaker sound system, electronic stability control and rear parking sensors have been retained.
Underneath the hood, the Altroz Racer will come packing the Nexon’s 120 PS / 170 Nm 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, teamed with a 6-speed manual. It must be noted that the Altroz Racer will replace the Altroz i-Turbo, which got a detuned 110PS version of the same engine, paired with a 5-speed manual. There won’t be any automatic transmission available at launch.
One can expect the Altroz Racer to cost a premium over the standard version, which is available from Rs 6.64 lakh (ex-showroom). It will lock horns with the Hyundai i20 N Line, while being a sportier alternative to the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Toyota Glanza.
