Based on the 1964 Jack Heuer tribute to the gruelling Carrera Panamericana Mexico Road Race in 1950s, Brand Ambassadors Karun Chandhok and Shah Rukh Khan introduced a limited edition Carrera ‘Monaco Grand Prix’ Chronograph during the inauguration of a new showroom in Mumbai that showcases timepieces, latest collections, lifestyle accessories and limited edition watches.

The limited edition watch pays Carrera-inspired homage to the Monaco Grand Prix, Formula One’s most exciting, prestigious, dangerous yet glamorous race. TAG Heuer President and CEO Jean Christophe-Babin said, “India has a special place in my heart and in the world of TAG Heuer. The launch of our boutique today at Palladium Mall in the presence of both our India brand ambassadors, Shah Rukh Khan and Karun Chandhok gives an impetus to our commitment to the Indian market.” A three-register triple calendar version of Carrera was introduced around 1968 and it has been the most desired timepieces from the Swiss luxury watch maker.

“My nine year long association with TAG Heuer makes me feel like an integral part of the brand and I have witnessed its growth since it entered India. 2012 marks yet another year of excellence in watch making for TAG Heuer,” said Shah Rukh Khan, brand ambassador for TAG Heuer. Introduced in 1963 and designed by Jack Heuer, the Carrera series chronographs had a very simple design with only registers and applied markers on the dial. The fixed inner bezel is divided into 1/5 second increments. In the 60s, Carreras were available with a variety of dials, including all-white, all black, white registers on a black dial and black registers on a black dial.

TAG Heuer has been one of the most known brands for watch connoisseurs since the 60s and is known for its par excellence quality and precision up to 1/10th, 1/100th 1/1000th and 1/10,000th of a second. The brand is the official timekeeper for Formula One since 1990s. In 2011, the brand launched a limited edition Buddh International Circuit In 2010, the ‘mastering speed’ icon celebrated its 150 years with India Racing Limited Edition Carrera chronograph.
