Ather Energy recently launched the 450X Gen 3 and 450 Plus Gen 3 e-scooters with updated battery packs and better ranges. Both the variants of the e-scooter command a slight premium of Rs 5,106 over their predecessors and retail at Rs 1,57,507 for the 450X and 1,35,996 for the 450 Plus (ex-showroom India including state subsidy). But does the new pricing work for the updated e-scooter? We explain.
The updated Ather 450X gets a larger 3.7kWh battery pack as opposed to the older 2.9kWh. This has pushed the claimed Indian Driving Cycle (IDC) range to 146km, 30km more than the previous model. And in terms of real-world range, the figures have increased too.

Despite Ola and iQube being more affordable than the Ather, when it comes to ride, handling, and reliability, the 450X manages to charm us with its performance. We have also ridden the updated e-scooter, and you can read what we think about it here.
On paper, the Ola S1 Pro does boast a lot of features and betters the Ather in terms of performance figures too; however, the connection with the rider and reliability that Ather flaunts can’t yet be replaced by Ola. You can check out the Ather 450X Gen 2 vs Ola S1 Pro comparison review here.
Even the updated iQube flaunts a variety of new features, yet it does not manage to match up to what the Ather offers in terms of features and performance at the price tag. That said, the Simple One is coming soon, and in our first ride review of the One, it has managed to impress us. What remains to be seen is how the final production model will do.
With the update, we expected Ather to increase the power output on its electric scooters, helping them take the fight to their primary rivals. That said, the updates and improved range are well appreciated and make the e-scooters more wholesome electric products than before. Adding to that, in Delhi, with the state subsidies, the Ather 450X retails at an ex-showroom price of Rs 1,39,005, just Rs 1,000 more expensive than its predecessor.
