Petrol head Audi fans, fret not as the German carmaker will still be manufacturing ICE vehicles till 2033

Earlier, Audi had announced that it will be introducing only pure electric cars globally from 2026 onwards with its last new ICE-powered model set to launch in 2025. We recently got in touch with Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head Of Audi India, who has said that this strategy will be aligned with the Indian market.

In an exclusive interaction with Zigwheels, Dhillon stated, “In 2021, our Board of Management announced the corporate strategy 'Vorsprung 2030,' which essentially means a head start toward 2030. More importantly, Audi has established a definitive timeline for the transition to electric mobility with this new strategy. This includes launching only EVs from 2026, ending ICE-powered vehicle production by 2033, and increasing the focus on software and technology. This strategy is also aligned with the Indian market.”

Not The End For Audi ICE Models Just Yet

As per Audi’s mission statement from 2021, every new Audi product will be an EV, however, the German marque has mapped out facelifts and minor updates for its existing ICE lineup till 2033.  That being said, Audi will introduce its last all-new ICE model in 2025, which could be a performance model as the last noisy successor to the Audi R8.

Current Audi EV Lineup

Audi’s current global EV lineup includes the Q4 e-tron, Q6 e-tron, Q8 e-tron and the e-tron GT. The German carmaker offers the last two models here with the Q6 e-tron lined up for an India launch in 2025. Apart from these cars, the Audi A6 e-tron (electric A6) and the all-electric Audi A4 are also in the works.
