The Ather 450X is an exciting electric scooter but for those who crave more, Ather has now upped the ante by launching the 450 Apex, a scooter that promises even more fun.
Ather has priced the 450 Apex at Rs 1.89 lakh (ex-showroom Bengaluru, without FAME 2 subsidy). Yes, that’s expensive and Ather hasn’t applied for FAME 2. As for its rivals, it includes the Ola S1 Pro, TVS X and the Simple One.
The biggest change on the 450 Apex is that its peak output stands at 7kW, as against the 450X’ 6.4kW. And consequently, its top speed is now 100kmph (10kmph more than that of the 450X). Even the 0-40kmph run now stands at 2.9 seconds (0.4 seconds less than the 450X).

While the battery capacity still stands at 3.7kWh, the 450 Apex has a higher certified range (157km, 7km more than the 450X) and TrueRange (Ather’s term for real world range) in every mode. Here’s what the difference is:

The 450 Apex gets a new Warp Plus riding mode and while it’s a lot quicker than Warp mode, the range hasn’t been compromised on. Other new features include ‘Magic Twist,’ which is basically negative throttle for regen braking. In fact, Ather claims that for your everyday commutes, the regen braking will be enough to bring the 450 Apex to a halt and you’ll barely have to use the brakes.
The 450 Apex also gets a new Indium Blue paint scheme which looks beautiful. And what has made a comeback are the transparent side panels which look stunning, to say the least. One final change on the 450 Apex is the 5 years/ 60,000km battery warranty (as against the 3 years/ 30,000km one on the 450X).
The 450 Apex is expensive and there are no two ways to it. But now that we stressed that point again, the 450 Apex also manages to give a riding experience that no other electric scooter in India can. The 450X was the most fun electric scooter to ride in India and the 450 Apex somehow takes that very experience up a couple of notches. The 450 Apex is, hence, the most fun electric scooter to ride in India and we’re sure it’ll have its own niche audience who would be willing to pay for that very experience.
