Hero, the Jaipur-based manufacturer, has launched the Vida V2 range of electric scooters in India. The V2 range replaces the V1 range and gets major updates which make the scooter more appealing. It’s offered in three variants – Lite (new), Plus and Pro – and the introduction of the new base variant makes it more affordable than the V1.

The Hero Vida V2 undercuts the V1 by Rs 6,000 by adding a new base variant. This makes the V2 electric scooter more affordable.
Design
The Hero Vida V2 shares its design language with its predecessor, the Vida V1. The sharp tank extensions on the front apron, the aggressive LED headlight with turn indicators placed on the handlebar and the single-side swingarm at the rear looks sporty and adds to the appeal of the electric scooter.
Variants and Colours
The Hero Vida V2 is available in three variants: Lite (new), Plus and Pro. The Lite variants gets four colour options: Matte Abrax Orange, Glossy Sports Red, Glossy Black and Matte White. The Plus variant gets all the colours of the Lite variant and an additional colour which is Matte Cyan. The Pro variant gets all colours of the two other variants and an additional colour which is Matte Nexus Blue.
Battery and Range
The Hero Vida V2 gets a total of three battery pack options which the customers can choose from. The Vida V2 Lite variant gets a single 2.2kWh battery pack which is removable and delivers an IDC (Indian Driving Cycle) range of 94km which Hero claims will deliver a real world range of 64km. It takes 5 hours and 55 minutes to charge this variant from 0-80%.
The Plus variant gets two 1.72kWh battery packs which are removable as well. Having a total battery capacity of 3.44kWh, the Plus variant has an IDC range of 143km which Hero claims will deliver a range of 100km in the real world. It takes 5 hours and 15 minutes to charge the Plus variant from 0-80%.
The Pro variant comes with two 1.97kWh removable battery packs having a total capacity of 3.94kWh. It will deliver an IDC range of 165km and Hero claims the real world range will be 114km. It takes 3 hours and 30 minutes to charge it from 0-80%.
Performance and Specifications
The Vida V2 gets a hub-mounted motor which makes peak power of 6kW and 25Nm. The Lite variant has a claimed top-speed of 69kmph, the Plus and the Pro variant have claimed top-speeds of 85kmph and 90kmph respectively. The Pro and Plus variants accelerate from 0-40kmph in 2.9 seconds and 3.4 seconds respectively while the Lite variant does it in 4.2 seconds. The scooter gets a telescopic fork and a monoschock at the rear. It rides on 12-inch alloy wheels at both ends and gets a disc brake at the front and drum at the rear. The scooter weighs 116kg for the Lite variant, 124kg for the Plus variant and 125kg for the Pro variant. The ground clearance is a modest 155mm while the seat height is 777mm.

Features
The Hero Vida V2 is packed to the brim when it comes to features with the only difference between the three variants being the riding modes they get. The Lite variant gets two riding modes: Eco and Ride. The Plus variant comes with three riding modes: Eco, Ride and Sport, and the Pro variant gets an additional mode over the Plus variant which is the Custom mode.
All three variants get a 7-inch TFT with touch display, auto brightness adjustment and also receive over-the-air updates. Other features include, cruise control, follow me home lights, keyless entry, electronic seat and handle lock, two-way throttle for reverse and regen, and Bluetooth connectivity which allows for call/SMS alerts. The scooter also gets LED lighting all round. All three variants have a boot space capacity of 26 litres.

The scooter goes against the likes of Ather Rizta, Ampere Nexus, Ola S1 Pro, Bajaj Chetak and the TVS iQube in India.
