BYD Atto 3 Is Nearly Rs 10 Lakh More Expensive Than MG ZS EV, But Gets More Kit On Board

BYD, known as Build Your Dreams, has announced prices for its second offering, the Atto 3. The electric SUV has been launched in India at Rs 33.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and comes in one single fully loaded variant. It’s the Chinese carmaker’s second model for the Indian market after the E6 MPV. 

Here’s where BYD’s new electric SUV stands in the face of its closest competitors: the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona Electric. 

As you can see in the table above, you will have to shell out over Rs 10 lakh for the Atto 3 when compared to the MG ZS EV’s entry-level trim. And that amount comes down to around Rs 7.4 lakh when pitched against the MG’s top-end variant. But, the BYD offering justifies the extra premium by giving a more sophisticated features list. 

Top highlights in the Atto 3 include a rotating 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system,  Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a panoramic sunroof, power adjustable front seats, automatic climate control, a wireless phone charger, and a powered tailgate. 

Safety is taken care of by seven airbags, electronic stability control, and a suite of ADAS features like forward collision avoidance, lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control. The Atto 3 also has a reassuring five star safety in the more stringent Euro NCAP crash tests. 

Powering the Atto 3 is a single electric motor delivering 204PS of power to the front wheels. It’s powered by a 60kWh Blade battery pack, which helps the SUV deliver an ARAI-claimed range of 521km. You also get a fast charging option as well as a vehicle to load functionality, where you can charge from the battery to power certain appliances.
