BYD Atto 3 Garners 2000+ Bookings Since Launch, Deliveries Underway

The BYD Atto 3 has started leaving showroom floors as the carmaker has begun delivering the electric SUV to its respective customers. The first batch of the Atto 3, comprising over 340 units, was delivered in January. It has garnered over 2000 bookings since launch, however, order books opened back in October, so it’s likely that much more orders are pending delivery. 

BYD launched the Atto 3 in India back in November 2022. Offered in a single trim, the electric SUV is priced at Rs 33.99 lakh (ex-showroom); however, a limited special edition Atto 3 was launched at the Auto Expo, carrying a premium of Rs 50,000. The production of the special edition is limited to 1,200 units.

Its powertrain comprises a 60kWh Blade battery pack, which sends power to the 204PS electric motor. The setup delivers an ARAI-claimed range of 521km and is compatible with fast charging, allowing for zero to 80 percent charge time of 50 minutes when using an 80kW fast charger.

The carmaker plans to widen its footprint in the country with 53 touchpoints by the end of this year. Also in the plans is another car for the country, likely to hit the roads around the festive season. The Seal EV, also showcased at the Expo, will be the next BYD product in the country, and it’ll join the lineup alongside the Atto 3 and E6 electric MPV.

The BYD Atto 3 has no immediate competition, but the likes of the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona Electric can be considered comparatively affordable rivals.
