BYD has just launched its second offering in India in the form of the Atto 3 electric SUV. Priced at Rs 33.99 lakh, the electric SUV is a bit more expensive and larger than its immediate rivals, the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona Electric. The three cars stack fairly close to each other in every sense, so let’s compare everything there is to know about the three EVs.

The BYD Atto 3 is the largest of the lot, outgunning its rivals in most aspects.
The only dimension where it falls short is with its height (1,615mm) when compared with the MG ZS EV (1,649mm tall).
The Hyundai Kona Electric is the shortest of the lot with a length of 4,180mm, but it has a slightly longer wheelbase than the MG ZS EV.

The BYD Atto 3 has the largest touchscreen (12.8-inch) when compared to the 10.1-inch and seven-inch screens of the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona Electric, respectively.
The MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona Electric miss out on ambient lighting.
The Hyundai Kona Electric loses with regard to the equipment list comparison as it misses out on connected car features and rear AC vents.

The BYD has the maximum power output of the lot, but has a lesser torque figure of 310Nm compared to the Kona Electric’s 395Nm.
The MG ZS EV develops the least amount of torque, but still puts out a healthy 177PS.
With a 60kWh battery pack, the BYD Atto 3 has the largest battery amongst its peers.
The Kona Electric has the smallest battery here.

The BYD Atto 3 offers the maximum ARAI-claimed range of 521km in comparison to the 419km and 452km offered by the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona Electric, respectively.
Charging speed with a 50kW DC charger is quickest in the BYD with a 0-80 per cent charging time of 50 minutes.
It also has the slowest charging time of 10 hours when plugged into a 7.2kW AC charger.

With a price tag of Rs 33.99 lakh, the BYD Atto 3 is more than Rs 10 lakh costlier than the Hyundai and MG EVs.
It is clear from this comparison that the BYD Atto 3 triumphs the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona Electric in every parameter possible. It is even bigger and more premium than the other two EVs and all of this shows in its price tag of Rs 33.99 lakh (ex-showroom), which is more than Rs 10 lakh over the other two cars considered here.

For the premium, you get a bigger battery with more range, faster charging speeds and better outright performance. Even in terms of features, the BYD does outdo its rivals with a premium list of features and safety equipment. The BYD Atto 3 can be considered as a bigger and premium alternative to the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona Electric.
