Ather recently launched the base variant of the 450X electric scooter, which is quite barebones in terms of features. This variant misses out on fast charging and thus takes a whole 15 hours to fully charge from zero using a home charger.
Addressing this issue on Twitter, Ather Energy’s CEO Tarun Mehta tweeted:
Yes, that feedback is quite clear.

Don't think we can solve it with a 5k increase but will try and solve for it in the future. https://t.co/0hwxTaPMbd
The Ather 450X with the Pro Pack takes only about 5 hours and 40 minutes to fully charge with a home charger, which is a big difference. And on top of it, it also supports fast charging with the Ather Grid 2.0.
It is highly likely that Ather comes up with a solution for this with a faster charging capability on the base 450X soon. We also hope instead of keeping access to the Ather Grid completely out of bounds, Ather should ask customers of the base variant to pay and use them whenever needed so that it not only provides an additional revenue to the company but also reduces the down time of the e-scooter.
Want to know how the Ather 450X and 450X with Pro pack are different? Head on here to our variants explained story.
With a price tag of Rs 98,079, the 450X base variant makes for a really attractive EV product at a similar price point to a petrol-powered scooter. The 450X with Pro Pack costs Rs 1,28,443 (ex-showroom Delhi, including Fame II).
