The inevitable is just around the corner, as Maranello has announced its plan and the first step toward electrification. Italian marque Ferrari will unveil its first electric car at Capital Markets Day on 9 October. It recently revealed 2024 sales figures, and Benedetto Vigna, CEO of Ferrari, said, “We will reveal more of our future on 9 October,” indicating that the first-ever all-electric Ferrari is just a short few months away. Most notably, the brand will introduce six new vehicles in 2025.
Vagnia did not disclose more details about Maranello’s first electric vehicle (EV) except saying it will be launched uniquely and innovatively in Italy. Although Ferrari has been tight-lipped about its first EV, it is expected that this model is expected to be a crossover rather than a supercar for what the brand has been known for. In fact, several spy pictures that appeared on the internet previously have also hinted at a similar body style. However, it remains unclear what battery technology and components it will use.
While Ferrari is set to showcase its new direction for the future on 9 October, it has been successful in terms of the sales of its hybrid lineup, recording the highest-ever sales. In fact, the hybrid models accounted for 51 percent of the overall sales last year. In total, the company sold 13,752 units in 2024 – a 0.7 percent increase compared to sales figures in 2023.
While the electric from Ferrari will be one of the six new vehicles coming out this year, the other five upcoming cars are likely to be a mix of pure-combustion and hybrid models. It is expected that the SF90 Stradale and Roma will get a replacement since Ferrari has put a full stop on their production. The 296 V6 plug-in hybrid, which made its debut in 2021, may also spawn a track-focused model. Similarly, the Purosangue could become available with a hybrid option paired with a V8. Lastly, Ferrari’s Icona series is likely to see a new limited edition model following the suite of the Daytona SP3, Monza SP1, and Monza SP2.
All in all, this year is going to be busy for Maranello with a raft of new launches, including the introduction of its first EV. Are you excited about the new Ferrari lineup? Tell us what would you like to see in India.
