Tata has just taken the covers off the Nexon EV facelift. It takes after the ICE Nexon facelift with a similar design language but gets a few EV-specific elements. And while the ICE Nexon has retained the same powertrain specs as its outgoing model, the Nexon EV has improved in every possible parameter. So let’s dive right into how the electric sub-4m SUV has evolved over its predecessor:
The facelifted Nexon EV embraces modernisation with sleek LED DRLs connected via a light bar that spans the width of the bonnet, and a closed-off grille. The outgoing model was a bit traditional in this sense with the headlights and DRLs combined within the same unit. It only sported blue inserts over the standard Nexon, while the facelifted model can be distinguished clearly.
It even gets functional wheel curtains at the sides that help aid the aerodynamics of the vehicle. The profile is similar with a sloping roofline and ascending shoulder line. But the new Nexon EV does feature more aerodynamic wheels than before.

Modernisation is apparent at the rear as well, with the facelifted model taking on the connected LED taillight trend. What hasn’t changed is the X-shaped motif, which is somewhat similar to the outgoing model. You’ll also notice that there’s no rear wiper, but it’s actually hidden within the roof spoiler for an unobstructed view out the rear windscreen.
The cabin design is all new, though the layout is somewhat similar to that of the outgoing model. The AC vents lie on the same panel, just like the outgoing model, but everything else around is digitised.
For starters, the infotainment screen is a 12.3-inch unit, the biggest for a Tata vehicle EVER, while you also get a touch-sensitive HVAC control panel beneath the vents. You still get physical toggles for temperature and fan speed controls, while the outgoing model only had physical buttons and dials for the same functions.
The two-spoke steering is new and even gets an illuminated Tata logo with touch-sensitive buttons flanking the panel. The screen behind the steering is a fully digital 10.25-inch unit, instead of the semi-digital display.
In terms of outright features, the Nexon EV gains a 360-degree camera, 9-speaker JBL sound system with subwoofer and 6 airbags apart from the already mentioned new screens. It also gets a blind spot monitor and vehicle to load (V2L) and vehicle to vehicle (V2V capabilities) charging features, which turn the vehicle into a portable power bank.
Additionally, the screen boasts an ‘Arcade’ suite that allows you to download games and apps like Hotstar for you to enjoy while charging the vehicle (hopefully). Features such as wireless phone charger, ventilated front seats, drive modes, cruise control and a sunroof have been carried over.
The outgoing Nexon EV was available in two guises: Prime with a 30.2kWh battery and Max with a 40.5kWh battery pack. The former offers a claimed range of 312km, while the Max range boasts a claimed range of 453km. But thanks to a new Gen 2 e-motor that’s lighter and develops nearly identical figures at 129PS for Medium and 145PS for Long Range, Tata has been able to eke out more range, which now stands at 325km (medium range) and 465km (long range), respectively. It also gets regenerative braking, which you can adjust as per you liking using the paddle shifters.
Prices for the Nexon EV facelift will be revealed on September 14, and you can expect a notable hike over the outgoing prices of the Nexon EV, which ranges between Rs 14.49 lakh and Rs 19.54 lakh (ex-showroom). The increased price could place it in a similar ballpark as the MG ZS EV, while it’ll continue to rival the Mahindra XUV400 EV.
