Here’s What The All-electric Citroen C3 Will Be Called

• Electric Citroen C3 will be the Citroen eC3. 

• It’s expected to debut later in December. 

• Expected to deliver up to 350km of claimed range. 

• Could get features missing in the C3 such as rear wiper and cruise control. 

• Likely to be priced from around Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). 

Citroen has announced the upcoming C3-based electric hatchback will be called the eC3 in India. The Citroen eC3 is expected to break cover soon, likely going on sale in early 2023 as a rival to the Tata Tiago EV and upcoming MG Air EV. 

Citroen EV to be called eC3

The eC3 will be the French carmaker’s first electric model in India. Previously, spy shots have shown that it’ll be largely identical to the existing ICE hatchback apart from a missing tailpipe and charging port located on the front fender. That said, we expect the final product to bear EV-specific design touches to distinguish it from the ICE-powered C3. 

It should be largely similar inside, too, inheriting the ICE C3’s large 10-inch infotainment screen and spacious cabin. However, we expect that it’ll be better equipped than its ICE counterpart by getting additional features such as  climate control, electrically operated ORVMs, rear washer, wiper and defogger and cruise control. 

Bits like the aforementioned touchscreen, digitised instrument cluster, LED DRLs and steering-mounted controls will be carried forward from the ICE-powered car. 

Expected powertrain specs

Staying on par with the segment, the Citroen eC3 should get a range of around 350km and fast-charging capability. It should offer multiple battery options including a 50kWh pack, paired with a 136PS e-motor from overseas Stellantis EV models such as the Peugeot 308.
