Kia India’s First EV Gets a Launch Date And It Isn’t Too Far-Off

• Kia EV6 will be a fully imported offering.

Kia India is all set to launch its first all-electric offering, the swanky EV6, on June 02. Pre-launch bookings will commence on May 26 and the EV will initially be limited to 100 fully imported units. The all-electric vehicle will be offered with two drivetrain options and is expected to come in a fully-loaded ‘GT Line’ trim. 

The EV6 will be the first model in India to be based on Hyundai’s dedicated electric vehicle platform, named the E-GMP, thanks to which, the EV6 is much more spacious and practical than your typical ICE car due to better packaging. Plus, it looks vogue and futuristic, giving it much more road presence.

In terms of specifications, the EV6 will get both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive options in India. A 77.4kWh battery pack will be the mainstay and the EV will come with a claimed range of up to 528km (WLTP). Yes, it supports fast charging, but the talking point is its ability to power home appliances in case of a power outage.
