Kia has opened bookings for its first electric vehicle (EV) in India, the EV6. It’ll be imported as a completely built-up unit (CBU), and prices are likely to start from Rs 65 lakh (ex-showroom). The actual pricing will be announced on the EV6’s official launch on June 2. Only 100 units are available to book this year, and first deliveries of the all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant will begin in September. The rear-wheel-drive (RWD) EV6 will reach customers starting from December.
The Kia EV6 packs twin 12.3-inch curved displays for infotainment and driver’s instrumentation. You’ll get a 14-speaker Meridian sound system, a panoramic sunroof, head-up display (HUD), ventilated and 10-way powered front seats, wireless phone charger, and multiple USB ports and even a laptop charging port.
On the safety front, the EV6 will be equipped with eight airbags (front, side, curtain and front-centre airbags) and a 360-degree camera. It’ll also get a forward collision avoidance system with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and driver attention warning.
The EV6 will also offer over 60 connected car features that’ll allow its owners to operate the EV’s charging and climate control remotely. Surround view monitoring is also a part of the package.
Two variants of the Kia EV6 will be offered in India, including a GT-Line variant. The EV6 will be available in five colour choices: Moonscape, Runway Red, Snow White Pearl, Yacht Blue and Aurora Black Pearl.
The India-spec Kia EV6 is powered by a 77.4kWh battery pack that works on an 800-Volt architecture. It offers a claimed range of around 450km, and will be available in 325PS/605Nm AWD and 229PS/350Nm RWD powertrains.
