Lexus has given a sneak peek of the new RZ 450e electric SUV ahead of its debut on April 20. The all-electric SUV is essentially a more luxurious version of the Toyota bZ4x EV and is the production version of the sexy-looking LF-Z Electrified concept car. And by the looks of it, the new electric SUV seems to have got to a good start.
Lexus is known for its distinctive styling touches, and the RZ 450e is no different. In fact, the front-end styling is almost identical to the concept and looks futuristic. The trademark spindle grille has been retained, but closed off for better aerodynamics. You also get funky LED headlights and DRLs as seen in its sibling. More design details will be revealed as we inch closer to the reveal.
Inside, the cabin layout is similar to the Toyota sibling, but there are noticeable differences. For starters, the high mounted instrument cluster now gets a hood, which bleeds on to the central console. As a result, to fill up that empty space, the central AC vents are positioned above the screen instead of below like the Toyota. The only common design feature between the EVs is the yoke steering wheel, which looks cool.
Considering that ‘450e’ is a variant name in Lexus’s speak, it’s likely that the electric SUV will be available in one variant initially. The concept car featured a 536PS dual motor layout and can sprint from 0-100kmph in around 3 seconds. However, that could be toned down, and the specs could be similar or slightly better than the Toyota bZ4x. Read more about it here.
More details about Lexus’s first all-electric vehicle will be revealed on April 20. So stay tuned. This electric SUV aims to take on the Tesla Model Y, Mercedes-Benz EQC, Audi e-tron and the BMW iX. It could be on cards for an India launch soon after its unveiling.
