Mahindra is all set and geared up for the debut of its upcoming electric SUVs, the BE 6e and XEV 9e. We expect Mahindra to reveal the full car tomorrow with the starting price, and full prices to be announced soon. Both XEV 9e and BE 6e are based on the new INGLO platform, which will underpin future Mahindra EVs as well.
If you have your eyes set on the two Mahindra EVs, here’s everything you need to know about them ahead of their official debut tomorrow!
Modern and futuristic are the two words that pop up when you look at the teasers of both these SUVs. For setting context, the BE 6e is the production-spec model of the BE 05 Concept, while the XEV 9e is the production-ready version of the XUV e9.
The BE 6e is a compact electric SUV with an overall sporty and futuristic look which will catch your attention right from the beginning. Its sharp lines and angular design elements further add to its appealing design.
The XEV 9e on the other hand sports a muscular look and has a sophisticated feel to its design. Connected LED lighting elements and a sloping roofline are some key elements that make the design attractive.
Design elements like flush door handles, and aerodynamic alloy wheels will be offered with both the SUVs.
Teasers have given us glimpses of their interior, revealing that the XEV 9e will get a triple-screen layout, while the BE 6e will come with a dual-screen setup, thereby missing out on the entertainment screen for the co-driver.

Both EVs will feature a modern and minimalist interior and provide an upmarket feel inside the cabin. Teasers have also revealed a new 2-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo in the centre, making them stand out from other Mahindra models. The XEV 9e is expected to get a panoramic sunroof that opens, and the BE 6e is likely to be offered with a fixed glass unit.
Apart from the panoramic glass roof and multiple screens (3 with XEV 9e and 2 with BE 6e), we expect both EVs to be offered with all your upmarket and premium features that will keep you more than satisfied. Some of these include dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, powered front seats, multiple wireless phone chargers, multi-colour ambient lighting, and a premium audio system.
Passenger safety will likely be taken care of by ADAS, multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
It has been confirmed that the Mahindra BE 6e and XEV 9e will be available with two battery packs of 59 kWh and 79 kWh sizes. Underpinned by the new INGLO platform, the SUVs are likely to be available with both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive systems.
The rear-wheel drive configuration of the two EVs will feature an electric motor capable of generating up to 286 PS. Yes, these numbers make them the most powerful Mahindra cars to date!
The BE 6e and XEV 9e will be provided with fast-charging capabilities of recharging from 20 percent to 80 percent in about 20 minutes, using a 175 kW DC charger. While nothing has been confirmed yet, both SUVs will probably have a claimed range of over 500 km.
The BE 6e will probably be priced from Rs 20 to Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom) and compete with compact electric SUVs like the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV and also upcoming cars like the Maruti eVX and Hyundai Creta EV.
The XEV 9e will go head-on with the upcoming Tata Harrier EV and is likely to be priced around the Rs 30 lakh mark (ex-showroom).
