The Mahindra-owned carmaker has merely displayed its electric hypercar at the 2023 Hyderabad E Motor Show to demonstrate the potential of EVs

Indian carmaker Mahindra has unveiled the Pininfarina Battista electric hypercar at the 2023 Hyderabad E Motor Show. But before you start looking up the EV's prices, know that this isn’t an unveiling that’ll be followed by a launch.

In fact, the Battista is a rare electric supercar that’s being used to demonstrate the potential of EVs in India. It’s made in limited numbers and was never officially launched for the Indian market. However, the supercar showcased at the Hyderabad event did have an Indian flag on its rear wing.

That said, we can’t think of a better way to inspire the EV industry in India than a 1,900PS sculpture in carbon-fibre that can get from nought to 100kmph in 1.86 seconds. The Battista is surely at the leading edge of automotive innovation with its Rimac-sourced electric architecture, active aerodynamics and timelessly modern design.

The Pininfarina Battista is powered by four e-motors that together produce 1,900PS and 2,300Nm of torque, easily twice as much as most everyday supercars. All that power makes this EV inconceivably fast, as from standstill, it can reach 200kmph in 4.75 seconds. Moreover, 300kmph comes in less than 12 seconds!

When driven sedately, the Battista is claimed to deliver a reasonable range of 476km from its 120kWh battery pack. The charging system is ultra-fast, too – this EV can be charged from 20 to 80 per cent in under 25 minutes at the peak charging rate of 180kW.

What do you think about the Pininfarina Battista? Would you like to see such engineering applied to Mahindra’s EVs? Let us know in the comments.
