Okinawa’s new e-scooter will debut later this month

Okinawa has released a new teaser of its upcoming Okhi90 e-scooter ahead of its March 24 debut. The video gives us a glimpse of its all-LED headlight and the apron-mounted LED DRLs.

The teaser hasn’t revealed anything apart from its fascia; however, the e-scooter has been spotted testing many times, so we already have a fair idea of what it looks like. From its long-ish wheelbase to the 14-inch wheels, this is a product unlike any other from the Indian manufacturer.

The Okinawa Okhi90 isn’t just aesthetically different but, in all likelihood, could be the first e-scooter from the EV maker to feature a mid-mounted motor instead of a hub unit. While Okinawa has yet to comment on the technical specification, it mentioned that the new product would be a high-speed, long-range EV, in the ballpark of 150km on a single charge. So we expect it to have a range of 160km.

Moreover, with Niti Aayog’s policy on swappable batteries, the company might choose to introduce this tech with the Okhi90.

Okinawa will be manufacturing the EV at its new manufacturing facility -- which will also be its hub for R&D -- in Bhiwadi. With the upcoming electric scooter, Okinawa will step into the premium EV space and go head-on against the Ather 450X, Ola Electric S1, and the Simple One.
