Launch likely after arrival of updated 2024 Taycan in India
Just a month ago, Porsche gave its Taycan EV electric saloon a mid-life update in the form of minute cosmetic tweaks, more power and more range. It was inevitable for a performance (Turbo GT) version to follow soon and so it did, and how! This is the Taycan Turbo GT – the quickest, most powerful car to come out of Porsche’s production line. Seems like a 952PS Taycan Turbo S didn’t have enough to satiate someone’s need for speed at Stuttgart. So what’s the deal?
More Aggressive Design
Coming off the back of the new changes implemented on the updated Taycan, the Taycan Turbo GT isn’t much different. It is more aggressive, thanks to revised front and rear bumper with flicks for channelling air more efficiently. The Weissach package further adds air deflector elements to the underbody and a serious fixed wing at the rear.
Forged 21-inch wheels make their way in profile along with updated carbon ceramic brakes. The carbon elements continue on the B-pillar and the standard Taycan GT (without the Weissach package) gets a “ducktail” spoiler, finished of course in carbon fibre. So not a lot of substantial changes on the face of it. But that’s because there’s a lot more than meets the eye.

The interior layout is the same as the updated Taycan. But you get bucket seats as standard and the GT3 RS styled steering wheels with the extra knobs, buttons and paddles. The latter makes it easier to access the attack mode, which we’ll talk more about later. There’s ample space for four in the standard car, but the Weissach package only gets seating for two.
Taycan Turbo GT Performance
The Taycan Turbo GT is all about performance. Range takes a back seat here. With a claimed 555 km according to WLTP, it is understandably lower than the standard Turbo S models, which promise between 558 – 630 km from a full charge.
Thanks to a new rear axle motor, the Taycan Turbo GT has a peak output of 1100 PS and 1340 Nm. But this peak power only lasts for two seconds, while you get around 1033 PS in the launch control mode. Standard driving output stands at 789 PS.
So 0-100 kmph comes up in 2.3 seconds for the standard car and 2.2 seconds with the Weissach package. But there’s more to the Taycan Turbo GT than just straight line figures. Porsche has managed to shave off 75 kg over the Taycan Turbo S.

The ride has been tuned, the brakes upgraded, and more downforce has been added; even more so in the Weissach package. The result is more than apparent with Porsche development driver Lars Kern thrashing the lap time around the Nürburgring in a pre-production model. That was followed by the title of fastest electric series-production car at the Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca, in California. Both these feats were recorded in the Weissach package equipped Taycan.
We reckon the Taycan Turbo GT could be launched sometime post the arrival of the updated 2024 Taycan, which could be launched later this year. Prices will creep upwards, compared to the outgoing Porsche Taycan’s starting price tag of Rs 1.61 crore (ex-showroom). The Taycan Turbo GT will rival the Mercedes-Benz EQS AMG.
