Jeep has taken the wraps off the production-spec Avenger SUV at the 2022 Paris Motor Show. The Avenger is a special vehicle for Jeep, its first all-electric SUV from the SUV manufacturer. It’s the first of the four all-electric SUVs Jeep plans to introduce in Europe by 2025. So without further ado, here’s all the dope you need to know about the Avenger.
The Jeep Avenger, with its taut styling and bright yellow colour, looks cool. Bits like the familiar Jeep 7-slat grille, which merges onto the square LED headlights, have been retained. The black body cladding and silver skid plate on the front plate dials up the ruggedness.
In profile, the Avenger gets sharp creases and lines, while the wheel wells are nicely filled up by large alloy wheels. Keen-eyed viewers will also notice that the rear door handles are placed near the window a la the Altroz, giving it a three-door effect. Moving on to the rear, the square tail lamps with ‘X’ motif and a rugged bumper round off the overall design.
Inside, the Avenger gets a minimalist dashboard with a chunky steering wheel and a floating touchscreen infotainment system. Colour-coordinated bits from the exterior add a dash of life to the all-black interior. It’s also a practical interior as Jeep claims there is 34 litres of available storage in just the front part of the dashboard alone.
Powering the Avenger is a 156PS and 260Nm electric motor that spins the front wheels via a 54kWh battery pack. The SUV offers a WLTP-claimed range of 400km, which goes up to 550km in the urban cycle. Plus, the battery pack supports fast charging and can be juiced from 20 to 80 percent in just 24 minutes using a 100kW fast charger.
The Avenger is the first front-wheel drive Jeep to get Selec Terrain off-road modes. You get to choose from Normal, Eco, Sport, Snow, Sand and Mud, which changes various parameters depending on the mode. And speaking of off-roading, the minimal overhangs means approach and breakover angle is rated at 20 degrees, while the departure angle stands at 32 degrees.
Jeep’s Avenger will first go on sale in Europe, with orders already underway. There is no news of when Jeep plans to bring its all-electric SUV to our shores. But the carmaker is gearing up to introduce the Grand Cherokee SUV, which has been teased recently, in November.
