The country’s most affordable EV, the Tata Tiago EV, will be available for online and offline bookings, starting October 10. The electric hatchback carries an introductory price tag, ranging between Rs 8.49 lakh and Rs 11.29 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
The EV will be available for booking with a token amount of Rs 21,000 from October 10. Tata will prioritise the production of the bigger 24kWh battery pack variants. The introductory price will only be applicable for the first 10,000 orders, 2000 of which are reserved for existing Tata electric vehicle owners. Customer test drives for the Tiago EV will begin in late December, with deliveries commencing from January 2023.
The Tiago EV gets multiple powertrain options: 19kWh and 24kWh. With a claimed range of up to 250km, the former feeds power to a 61PS electric motor making 105Nm. The bigger 24kWh battery pack is paired with a 75PS/114Nm electric motor and has a claimed range of 315km.
Charging options include a standard 3.3kW AC charger and a 7.2kW AC fast charger that can be had for a premium of Rs 50,000 with the XZ+ and XZ+ Tech Lux trims.

The electric Tiago packs additional features over the standard Tiago’s offering. Multi-level regenerative braking, cruise control, leatherette seats, and smartwatch connectivity are now offered alongside the existing seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a cooled glovebox, and a rear defogger with wiper.

The Tiago EV has no direct competitor in the country, but it does come across as an affordable alternative to its bigger sibling, the Tigor EV. It will also be an alternative to the upcoming entry-level EV from MG, which was spied testing recently.
