MG’s latest electric car in the overseas market, the 4 premium electric hatchback, debuts in India at the Auto Expo 2023. The carmaker has showcased it at the motor show to gauge customer response for a probable India launch. It’s built from scratch as an EV and comes packing with futuristic looks and plenty of tech features.
The MG 4, with its swept back headlamps and sharp fascia, gives the front-end a mean demeanour. Its side profile has multiple creases and lines, while the large alloys give the hatch a nice stance. The lines flow on and merge the rear tail lamps, which are connected by an LED strip. Overall, the 4 electric hatchback looks sporty on the outside.
It gets a minimalistic interior which includes two separate screens, one touchscreen infotainment display and one digital driver’s display. Just below the infotainment display, you’ll see sleek AC vents that run across the width of the dashboard. The gear selector is also placed higher in the cabin for easier access.
Inside, it features a 10.25-inch floating touchscreen display, digital driver’s display, wireless phone charger, vehicle-to-load and heated front seats and steering wheel. For passenger safety, it gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), electronic stability program (ESP) and ADAS features including adaptive cruise control, auto emergency braking, lane-keep assist and blind spot detection.
Internationally, the MG 4 comes in two broad variants: Standard Range and Long Range. The former gets a 51kWh battery pack, while the latter features a 64kWh unit. Take a detailed look at the specifications in the table below:
