Less than a year since its launch, the Kratos, Tork Motors’ first electric bike, will see its prices get hiked. The magnitude of the price hike is quite pronounced as the cost increment will be Rs 10,000 and this will be applicable for both the standard variant, as well as the more high-performance ‘R’ version.
As a result, the two will end up being priced at Rs 1,32,499 and Rs 1,47,499, respectively (ex-showroom Maharashtra, after FAME-2 and State subsidies) from January 1, 2023 onwards. The company will be offering price protection to all motorcycles delivered until December 31, 2022 and the price hike will take effect on January 1, 2023.
While this particular price hike is limited to Rs 10,000, the overall increase in the price of the Kratos since its launch has actually been much larger. The Kratos was priced at Rs 1.08 lakh for the standard version and Rs 1.23 lakh for the R variant (ex-showroom Maharashtra, after FAME-2 and State subsidies) at the time of its launch. This means that after the January hike, the Kratos will be roughly Rs 25,000 more expensive than what it cost during its market launch, in a span of less than one year no less.
After the exorbitant pricing of the Ultraviolette F77, this price hike is another reminder that performance-oriented electric motorcycles are gonna be expensive, at least for the time being, and whether prospective customers of such machines come to terms with it will be revealed in time.
