In an exclusive interview with Zigwheels, Bengaluru-based EV startup Ultraviolette has revealed that its much-awaited electric sportbike, the F77, is now capable of offering around 200km of real-world range. This is a big jump from the initial claim of 140km from when it was unveiled in 2019, courtesy improved battery tech. If this claim is true, the F77 will boast the highest range for any electric motorcycle in India.
If you thought that was it, well think again, the bike has undergone a lot of development and offers more than it did before. The brand has confirmed they have been working on the performance consistency and maintaining the levels as the charge drops and can be expected to be better than before.
With the addition of cross members in the frame of the F77 to increase torsional stiffness, the bike has gained more weight, increasing the centre of gravity and making it top-heavy, though that only translates into it becoming more flickable. This will improve the performance and make it more agile, establishing a better connection with the rider.
With an updated battery management system, UV claims to have built multiple fail-safes to withstand errant use or even abuse of the battery and electronics, and get them back to function without much of an issue.
The F77 features a digital cluster that is not a touchscreen, but gets a four-button module with which the rider can interact with the bike’s functionalities. The display on the bike gets a custom font that changes colours and motion depending on the bike's speed.
The F77 comes with a portable charger as well as an on-board charger, which is smaller than that on other brands. The portable charger juices up the battery in less than two hours, whereas with the on-board charger it will take overnight charging.
The updated Ultraviolette F77 will see a slightly different headlight bezel design which was done to make it friendlier for mass production.
Since its initial unveiling in 2019, the F77 had already gained an audience with its incredible performance and sportbike design. The brand has been under work to make the bike not only an urban bike but also testing its capabilities on off-road settings. Can we expect an off-road mode on the F77? We will find out soon enough.
The brand has also confirmed that the F77 will be launching in the first quarter of 2022, and the pricing for the bike is likely to be the same as the initial asking price which is upwards of Rs 3 lakh.
