VinFast is on a spree of showcasing some exciting products at the ongoing Auto Expo 2025. At Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, we had the VinFast VF 8 electric SUV at the Vietnamese automaker’s pavilion. This model debuted alongside other exciting cars from their lineup, like the VF 3, VF 7, and VF 9. As sleek and stylish as the SUV looks, it is also packed with a wealth of modern amenities, whether in terms of convenience or safety. While an India launch of this SUV is not confirmed yet, here is all that we got to check out from the vehicle on display.
The VF 8 if launched in India would sit in the compact SUV segment with dimensions measuring as follows:
Length |
4750 mm |
Width |
1934 mm |
Height |
1667 mm |
Wheelbase |
2950 mm |
At the front, the VF 8 features a sleek fascia with slim LED headlights connected by a light bar that highlights the VinFast logo, giving it a futuristic look. The sculpted bonnet and clean bumper lines further add to its aggressive stance, while the chrome accents on the air intakes elevate its premium appeal.
Moving to the profile, the VF 8 boasts a muscular silhouette with pronounced wheel arches housing stylish alloy wheels. The gently sloping roofline adds a sporty touch, while the flush door handles and sharp character lines enhance the SUV’s sleek appearance. The power-folding ORVMs with integrated turn indicators and a memory function seamlessly blend functionality with design.
At the rear, the VF 8 carries the same modern aesthetic with a full-width LED light bar that accentuates the vehicle's width. The roof-mounted spoiler, integrated brake light, and sculpted tailgate add a sporty edge. The clean bumper design, with minimalistic detailing, maintains the overall sleek appeal of the SUV.
The interior features a clean and minimalist layout with soft-touch surfaces, complemented by chrome and piano black accents. The dashboard is dominated by a large, horizontally mounted touchscreen infotainment system. The absence of a traditional instrument cluster gives the cabin a futuristic feel, with essential driver information displayed directly on the head-up display.
As for features, the VF 8 in its global spec model is packed with comfort and convenience amenities like power-folding ORVM with memory function and heating function, auto-diming IRVM, wireless phone charger, multi-coloured ambient lighting, 8-way and 6-way power adjustable and heated driver and front passenger seat respectively, dual-zone automatic climate control and air purifier.
As for safety, it gets 11 airbags across trims, a 360-degree camera with blind spot monitor, tyre pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX and ADAS.
The VinFast VF 8 is powered by a dual-motor setup offering all-wheel drive (AWD). The system delivers an impressive combined output of 408 PS and 640 Nm of torque, enabling the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.5 seconds. A large battery pack powers the SUV, offering a claimed range of up to 480 km (WLTP). Fast-charging capabilities allow the VF 8 to regain up to 70 per cent charge in approximately 30 minutes.
While the launch and prices of the VinFast VF 8 in India are not confirmed, it will sit in the premium electric SUV segment if launched, likely priced around Rs 55-60 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will take on rivals like the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6 in the Indian market.
