Along with the unveiling of the new GT variants for the Taigun and Virtus, Volkswagen India had another surprise in store for us - the reveal of the ID.4 electric SUV. And if you have had your eyes on one, there is even more good news as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 rival has been confirmed for an India launch. Here’s everything you need to know about it:
The ID.4 boasts a relatively minimalistic design with a handful of modern design features. Up front, the first thing that catches your eye is the LED DRLs that span the width and connect both the large LED headlights. The closed off grille adds to the minimalist design, while the bumper with the large airdam and slim air intakes on the sides round off the overall front design.
In profile, the ID.4 once again takes the minimalist approach with soft creases and lines as well as flush fitting door handles. Adding a bit of bling is these large dual-tone alloys and the silver element on the top part of the window line.
At the rear, the highlight ought to be the connected LED tail lamps and the bumper with silver cladding completes the look.

The ID.4 shows off Volkswagen’s new interior theme for the first time in India. Once again, the design approach is minimalist as the dash is dominated by two screens: a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and 5.2-inch digital driver’s display. The gear shifter is now placed in the steering column, opening up more storage space in the central console.
In terms of features, the ID.4, internationally, gets Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, three-zone climate control, a panoramic glass roof, ambient lighting, powered front seats with heating and a wireless phone charger. Passenger safety is taken care of by multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors and ADAS.
Volkswagen India is yet to finalise the exact specifications for the ID.4. However, internationally, it’s available with multiple battery pack and powertrain options with both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive choices available. Here’s a look at the detailed specifications of the VW ID.4:
