The Honda Activa e which was recently unveiled is Honda’s attempt at recreating the Activa magic in an electric avatar. But how different is this upcoming electric scooter from the popular Honda Activa 6G? We will be answering this question through a deep dive into the many differences.
The Honda Activa e looks quite sleek and modern. This is in stark contrast to the simple commuter looks that the Honda Activa 6G has to offer. The Activa e manages to distinguish itself greatly with its sharp bodywork and overall styling. The design takes a lot of inspiration from the Honda CUV e electric scooter which was unveiled at EICMA 2024.
But to make the Activa e more suited to the Indian market, Honda has made a few changes. The scooter now comes with LED DRLs and a slightly more family-oriented profile. Overall, the Honda Activa e looks like a modernized take on what the Honda Activa 6G could look like.
The Honda Activa e is powered by a 6kW motor, which in theory outputs around 8.1PS. This is similar to what the Honda Activa 6G offers. The Activa 6G is powered by a petrol-powered air-cooled, single-cylinder motor that offers 7.8PS. So in terms of peak power output, the Honda Activa e has a slight advantage.
Coming to range, the Honda Activa e features a twin 1.5kWh swappable battery pack. This setup offers a claimed range of 102km. Honda is also planning on setting up swap stations across the country in the coming years. With this, the range anxiety that comes with EV ownership will go down.
The Honda Activa 6G in our tests returned an average mileage of 59.7kmpl, which translates to a real-world range of 316.41km on a full tank. So overall range-wise, the Honda Activa 6G has the advantage. That being said, the process of swapping batteries should be as quick as fuelling up an ICE scooter.
The Honda Activa e gets a 7-inch TFT console, with smartphone connectivity. The console offers a lot of features like call/SMS alerts, music control and also turn-by-turn navigation. The Activa 6G on the other hand offers a simple analogue console with a digital inset.
With the H-Smart variant of the Activa 6G, you get keyless ignition, an anti-theft system, a Find My Scooter function, and also the ability to remotely unlock the seat and fuel filler cap.
The addition of swappable batteries to the Activa e although a welcome addition, has made some major changes to the scooter. The batteries have been placed where the under-seat storage is, so there’s very little space left to store groceries. This takes away from the e-scooter’s credentials as a family-oriented offering.
One of the main reasons why people prefer electric scooters over petrol-powered ones is the additional storage. This comes down to the fact that electric scooters don’t have to make space for the fuel tank.
Storage-wise the Activa 6G has a 18-litre boot space on offer. This makes it a better family-oriented offering that can handle most of the family’s needs.
Overall, the Honda Activa e seems like a really promising offering. The swappable batteries should help in reducing range anxiety, once Honda sets up swap stations across the country. We expect the Honda Activa e to be launched at a price that is around the Rs 1.30 lakh mark (ex-showroom).
The Honda Activa 6G still has a lot to offer, such as better range and storage. As a family-oriented scooter offering, it still makes a lot of sense. The Honda Activa 6G is currently offered in 3 variants with the following prices.
Variant |
Price (ex-showroom Delhi) |
Honda Activa Standard |
Rs 76,684 |
Honda Activa DLX |
Rs 79,184 |
Honda Activa H-Smart |
Rs 82,684 |
