Surprisingly, the Kratos R’s claimed numbers are as fast as some 155cc ICE two-wheelers

After a long wait, Tork Motors is back with a bang – read the Tork Kratos. The electric bike has some promising performance numbers (although claimed), comparable to some popular ICE bikes and scooters. Want to know which ones? Well, you’re in the right place!

Side note: We’ll be using the top-spec Kratos R  for comparison here, as it offers slightly better performance than the standard variant. It retails at Rs 1.47 lakh (ex-showroom Pune, FAME-II included).

Bajaj Pulsar NS125 - Rs 99,347

The Bajaj Pulsar NS125 came as a surprise for the two-wheeler industry. But it’s surely a fun little bike. During our V-BOX runs, the Pulsar NS125 took 3.28 seconds to reach 40kmph from a standstill, which is just 0.22 seconds faster than Tork Kratos R (claimed time of 3.5 seconds). Even the NS125’s top speed at 103kmph is comparable to the Kratos R’s claimed 105kmph.

To jog your memory, the Pulsar NS125 is powered by a 124.45cc single-cylinder motor, putting out 12PS and 11Nm. In comparison, the Kratos R uses a 9kW (equivalent of 12.2PS peak output) motor, making 38Nm.

TVS Raider 125 - Rs 86,469

TVS’ Raider 125 is another premium 125cc bike with similar performance as the Kratos R. While we couldn’t test its 0-40kmph time, it is marginally faster than the NS125 to 60kmph, which means overall performance should be comparable to the Tork.

The TVS Raider 125 uses a 124.8cc single-cylinder engine, which makes 11.38PS and 11.2Nm. Like the Tork Kratos, the TVS Raider 125 also packs riding modes (Eco and Power).

Yamaha FZ-X - Rs 1,27,039

The Yamaha FZ-X was supposed to be the ‘Indian’ XSR 155. Sadly, it wasn’t, and it shows.

Unlike the XSR 155, it uses an FZ-S-derived 149cc single-cylinder, air-cooled motor that makes 12.4PS and 13.3Nm. Although these numbers sound decent, its real-world performance is worse than the 125cc Pulsar NS. Find out more about the FZ-X’s real-world performance here.

This also means it’ll be almost comparable – maybe a little slower – to the Tork Kratos R. And to add to its misery, the FZ-X couldn’t even breach the 100kmph mark, as it maxed out at just 96kmph during our test runs. This is nearly 10kmph slower than the Tork Kratos R’s claimed top speed.

2021 TVS NTorq 125 Race XP Road Test Review

TVS NTorq Race XP - Rs 93,262

Now, we come to the scooters. And first up is the most powerful 125cc scooter in India, the TVS NTorq Race XP

While testing, the scooter took 3.84 seconds to reach 40kmph from a standstill, 0.34 seconds slower than the Kratos R’s claimed figures. While the NTorq Race XP’s top speed could be a little less, we reckon it’ll be close to the Tork. Moreover, the TVS NTorq Race XP comes with features like illuminated underseat storage, smartphone connectivity, navigation, and USB charging, making it a versatile alternative when it comes to performance and practicality.

Yamaha Aerox 155 Launched, Prices Start At Rs 1.29 Lakh

Yamaha Aerox 155 - Rs 1,31,239

Last but not least is the Yamaha Aerox 155, India’s most powerful sub-160cc scooter. It uses a Yamaha R15-derived VVA-equipped 155cc motor putting out 15PS and 13.9Nm, the highest in this list.

The Aerox 155 bolts from 0 to 40kmph in just 3.30 seconds, 0.2 seconds faster than the Kratos R. Moreover, it maxed out at an impressive 111kmph (V-BOX indicated), 6kmph more than what the Kratos R claims.

So there we have it. These were the 125cc and 150cc ICE two-wheelers with performance comparable to the Tork Kratos R. And while these cost considerably less, none of these are as environmentally friendly as the Tork.
