It is definitely safe to say that we are currently witnessing an electric revolution in the Indian two-wheeler market and there are three prominent models that are locked in a close fight for the lead. While Ola and Ather have compelling lifestyle offerings for the existential millennial in the form of the S1 Pro and 450X, respectively, TVS took the opposite approach by developing an exact replacement for an ICE family scooter with the iQube Electric. Let’s take a look at how these scooters fare when pitted against each other on paper.

The Ola S1 Pro is definitely the most powerful scooter among the three and that clearly reflects in the performance figures. However, the TVS iQube ST offers the highest claimed real world range, which is a major contributing factor when choosing an EV. While the 0-100 percent charging time is not available for the iQube ST, it has similar charging time as the Ather and Ola scooters, however, TVS also offers an option of a 1500W charger which reduces charging time to 2:30 hours (0-80 percent). The Ather on the other hand, despite having lower torque and power outputs, manages to offer impressive acceleration, which implies it’s focus on good city usability.

While all three scooters have a similar frame, the Ola S1 Pro slightly lacks behind due to a single side telescopic front fork as it implies a stiffer front suspension which is not ideal for city usage. The TVS iQube is the only one out of the three to offer a 5 step adjustable rear suspension. However, it lags behind with regards to the rear brakes, as it features a small drum brake. The Ola S1 on the other hand sits on chunkier rubber.

As can be clearly seen, the Ola S1 Pro is the biggest scooter out of the three in terms of size, and also offers more storage space than the other two. The Ather 450X weighs only 108kg which gives it a leg up in performance and handling, especially in an urban environment. While the Ather offers sufficient under-seat storage for daily errands, the Ola and TVS scooters, although heavier, offer much higher storage capacity, thereby being more practical.

Every electric two-wheeler offers a huge list of features, and it’s no surprise that the Ola S1 Pro, TVS iQube ST and Ather 450X are at the forefront in terms of providing features. The Ola S1 Pro and iQube ST are similarly matched, while the Ather lacks behind in the display department as it misses out on a touchscreen. That being said, this is an area that sees constant innovation, and there’s no doubt that there will soon be additions to the scooter’s already long list of features.

While the price of the TVS iQube ST is yet to be announced, looking at the prices of the lower variants of the iQube, expect to pay around Rs 1.23 lakh for it. That being said, the Ola S1 Pro definitely offers the best value out of the three, and there’s scope of improvement as Ola is on the verge of releasing the new MoveOS2.
