From underpinnings to features, this cruiser has a lot of unique and premium bits

(Update: The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 has been launched in India. Check out the price in our launch story here.)

Royal Enfield has finally pulled the veils off its highly anticipated Super Meteor 650 at the ongoing EICMA 2022 in Milan. This is the third bike from the Indian two-wheeler giant, based on its 650cc platform, which already runs the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650.

The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 looks like a true-blue cruiser with its raked-out front end and the low stance. Bits like the teardrop-shaped fuel tank, scooped seat and beefy fenders further add to its cruiser persona. Even the rotary-style switchgear accentuates its retro styling.

The monopod instrument console on the Super Meteor 650 is new. This semi-digital instrument console has basic telltale information along with bits like clock, and a gear position indicator, something that its siblings do not have. The console is complemented by the Tripper navigation pod.

Even though the bike is based on the same platform as the Interceptor and the Continental GT, Royal Enfield has done a bunch of changes to the chassis. The bike gets a new tubular chassis and  features a 43mm USD fork with 120mm travel and twin shock with 101mm travel. For braking, the Indian marque has employed a new braking hardware consisting of a 320mm/300mm disc brake setup. The cruiser runs on a 19/16-inch alloy wheel setup. The cruiser tips the scales at 241kg, making it 39kg heavier than the Interceptor 650.

The Royal Enfield cruiser uses the same 648cc, air-/oil-cooled, parallel-twin engine making 47PS and 52.3Nm, which is identical to its 650cc siblings. Even the 6-speed gearbox is shared with the Interceptor and Continental GT 650.

The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 is likely to make its official India debut at the Rider Mania 2022. We expect this bike to come with a price tag of Rs 3.35 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), which will make it the most expensive Royal Enfield. Its immediate rival in our market would be the Kawasaki Vulcan S.
