The 2021 GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) is in full swing, and we have had our first unveiling of the day -- that of the facelifted Hyundai Creta. By now, you probably already know how the SUV looks, thanks to the numerous leaks and spy shots. But if you’re here for the first time, read on as we talk about the new features on offer.
Up front, the new Creta -- with its redesigned grille, integrated DRLs, and recessed headlamps -- now looks like a mini Tucson. There’s a redesigned bumper as well. In contrast, no changes have been made to the side profile, while the only difference at the back comes in the form of the redesigned tail lamps. Overall, the SUV is a lot easier on the eyes now.
Inside, Hyundai hasn’t tinkered much with the dashboard design. The Indonesian model gets an all-black theme with gloss black inserts in the centre console and features the 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, the same as the Alcazar.
Other features include a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car tech, a wireless phone charger, climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a Bose sound system, and cruise control.
Passenger safety is taken care of by six airbags, ABS with EBD, parking sensors with a camera, and electronic stability control. Autonomous driver assistance systems (ADAS) include forward, rear, and blindspot collision avoidance assist.
The model in Indonesia gets only the 115PS 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired with a 6-speed manual and an optional CVT. When the facelifted SUV comes to India, we reckon it will get the existing 115PS 1.5-litre diesel and 140PS 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine options as well. Plus, it could also team a 6-speed iMT with the 1.5-litre petrol unit.
The facelifted Hyundai Creta is expected to reach India in 2022 at likely prices from around Rs 10.5 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India), putting it in the same league as the Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun, MG Astor, and select variants of the Mahindra XUV700, Tata Harrier, and MG Hector.
