The 2023 Hyundai i20 facelift has arrived at dealerships, giving us a first-hand look at it in the flesh. Prices start from Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and it’s offered in five broad trims including a new entry-level model. This is the first midlife update for Hyundai’s premium hatchback, consisting of design alterations as well as feature and powertrain rejigs.

The facelifted i20 distinguishes itself most prominently at its front end, where it gets a Verna-inspired cascading grille and revamped LED headlights. Also, the front bumper now boasts sharply sculpted air dams for a more striking appearance. In contrast, changes from other angles are more restrained, with subtler updates such as slightly tinkered alloys and rear bumper.

Inside the facelifted i20's cabin, the layout is same as the outgoing model, albeit with a fresh black/grey color scheme for a breath of fresh air. It also gets USB Type-C chargers, keeping up with the latest technological advancements.

However, in a significant improvement to safety features, the facelifted i20 now includes six airbags, electronic stability control, parking sensors, and hill start assist as standard across its entire lineup.

Beneath the hood of the facelifted i20, you'll find the 83PS 1.2-litre petrol engine, available with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT for those seeking an automatic option. Notably, the 1-litre turbo-petrol engine has been omitted from the standard car's lineup, however, you can expect it with the facelifted i20 N Line.
