The Husqvarna Noren 901 adventure bike wowed us when it was unveiled in concept form back in 2019. It made us go gaga even more when Husqvarna took the wraps off the equally gorgeous looking yet capable production version in November 2021. Fast forward to over a year, the Norden is set to get an even more hardcore version, called the Norden 901 Expedition edition. The motorcycle was spotted at a dealer event abroad, hinting at a possible global launch next month.
While the Husky Norden 901 is already capable, the Expedition edition takes things up a notch with a longer, and fatter 48mm WP Xplor fork with around 20mm more travel (241mm) than the 43mm WP Apex USDs found in the standard bike. Even the WP Apex rear monoshock has been replaced with a WP Xplor unit. Thanks to the longer fork, the wheelbase is also 22mm longer than before. Consequently, expect the changes in hardware to have an effect on the bike’s ground clearance as well as the seat height.
While the homologation documents confirm an unchanged 104.6PS, 110Nm 889cc parallel-twin engine, the bike will reportedly come with a ‘Explorer’ riding mode that’s otherwise an accessory feature in the standard model. It will also reportedly get heated grips, seat, and a GPS mount. Other notable changes include an exclusive livery; beefier metal bash plate protecting the underside, engine and the fuel tanks; and a pair of soft panniers.
With the Expedition variant coming soon, Husqvarna will be able to take its fight to other proven ADVs in the segment such as the Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro, BMW F 850 GS Adventure, as well as its Austrian sibling, the KTM 890 Adventure R.
